Austin Carlile announced his departure from the band in December 2016. While initially reported that the departure was due to Carlile’s health issues due to a rare genetic disorder known as Marfan Syndrome, it has recently been revealed that disagreements within the band was a contributing factor.
Speaking to BBC Radio 1‘s “Rock Show With Daniel P. Carter”, Pauley stated about OF MICE & MEN’s decision to carry on without Carlile: “If you followed the media reports over the past year along with Austin’s statement, having to leave because of his health. I think we… I don’t know. It’s hard to talk about. It’s still not an easy thing to think about the future without him. One of the things that Austin expressed to us was that he really wanted us to keep going. He didn’t really want this to slow anything down as far as playing shows or anything else. For us, we took a few days to decide that.”
Of Mice & Men’s latest album ‘Cold World’ was released last year.
